MCCA Helps County Residents

A new organization, the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association (MCCA) was founded in July of this year and is moving ahead in it’s effort to provide financial assistance to Mecklenburg County residents who are fighting cancer. With donations and fund raising, the association has provided assistance to four patients in the immediate area.

The organization was founded by a cancer survivor, Wendell Watterson, when during his frequent trips for cancer treatments; he talked with many cancer patients, and realized the financial burden of fighting this disease, and the lack of assistance available.

The MCCA consists of a 12-member board of directors who reside in all parts of Mecklenburg County. Over the last five months, this board has worked together to form an organization that will help cancer patients now and many years to come. This board consists of voluntary members who review and act on applications submitted for assistance and plan and hold fund raising events.  To become an active member of the MCCA, or to make a donation, contact Wendell Watterson at 434-372-4421.
